It was nearly thirty years that the Egyptian domestic politics not aroused much attention and concern in the international community. You could say that from October 6, 1981, when President Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat was assassinated Islamism Khalid al-Islambuli, Egypt has been a sort of exception for stability in a turbulent time between North Africa and the Middle East.
